Disney has released character posters for its upcoming movie “Moana,” about a 16-year-old who teams up with the mighty demigod Maui and some unlikely animals to fulfill an ancient quest.
Moana is played by newcomer Auli‘i Cravalho and Dwayne Johnson voices Maui, who’s described as “half god, half mortal, all awesome.”
The other characters include:
Jermaine Clement (“Flight of the Conchords”) as Tamatoa, a self-absorbed, 50-foot crab who lives in Lalotai, the realm of monsters. The conceited crustacean wants to be more than a “bottom feeder” and overcompensates for this perceived shortcoming by covering himself in all things shiny.
Rachel House (“Whale Rider”) as Moana’s Gramma Tala, who inspired a love of the ocean in her granddaughter.
Temeura Morrison (“Once Were Warriors”) voices Moana’s father, Chief Tui and singer Nicole Scherzinger is Moana’s mother, Sina.
Alan Tudyk (“Wreck-It Ralph”) as Heihei, a dim-witted rooster who accidentally ends up on Moana’s canoe and joins her on her epic quest.
Kakamora, an intense team of crazy, coconut-armored pirates who will stop at nothing to get what they want
Pua, Moana’s loyal, puppy-ish pet pig
“Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
