Watch the First Trailer for Disney’s Live-Action Remake of ‘Lady and the Tramp’

The first trailer for Disney’s live-action remake of 1955 animated classic “Lady and the Tramp” introduces us to pampered cocker spaniel Lady (voiced by Tessa Thompson) and scruffy stray Tramp (Justin Theroux).

In the trailer, the duo does just about everything we remember from the original, including sharing a romantic spaghetti dinner.

Real dogs are used in this remake, including Jock and Trusty. Although we don’t hear him speak in the trailer, Trusty the Bloodhound is voiced by Sam Elliott and Jock the Scottie is voiced by Scottish actress Ashley Jensen. (In the original, Scottie is male and voiced by American actor Bill Thompson, who also supplied the voice of Bul, the Bull terrier and the German-accented Dachsie.)

Peg the Pekingese (voiced by legendary singer Peggy Lee in the animated film) will be voiced by singer/actress Janelle MonĂ¡e. “Doctor Strange” actor Benedict Wong voices Bull in the remake.

Lady’s owners, Jim Dear and Darling, are played by Thomas Mann and Kiersey Clemons. Aunt Sarah, whom we don’t see in the trailer, is voiced by Yvette Nicole Brown.

The film will be available on Disney’s new streaming service, Disney+, on the day, it debuts, November 12.

“101 Dalmatians” is also getting another live-action remake of sorts: “Cruella,” which will focus on the backstory of the villain, stars Emma Stone. It will be in theaters on May 28, 2021.
