If you like cats, Victorian England, Benedict Cumberbatch and Claire Foy, The Electrical Life of Louis Wain looks like pure catnip.
Cumberbatch stars as the eccentric real-life illustrator, who drew anthropomorphized large-eyed cats and kittens. Some psychiatrists believe the onset of schizophrenia can be seen in his later works.
In the trailer, we see Wain painting cats, walking a cat on a leash and cuddling a black-and-white kitten with his wife (played by The Crown’s Foy).
We also see Goth rocker Nick Cave pop up as science fiction writer H. G. Wells and “Jojo Rabbit” actor/director Taika Waititi as Hearst reporter Max Kase.

The Electrical Life of Louis Wain is directed by Will Sharpe, with story by Simon Stephenson, and screenplay by Stephenson and Sharpe.
The film premiered at the 48th Telluride Film Festival on September 2, 2021, and will have a limited theatrical release on October 22, 2021 before premiering on Prime Video on November 5, 2021.
