The trailer for the upcoming animated comedy “The Secret Life of Pets” shows what cats, dogs and birds do when their owners leave: Some sit patiently by the door, some raid the refrigerator, some rock out to heavy metal music and one clever dachshund uses the mixer for his own personal masseuse.
The movie features the voice talents of Louis C.K., Eric Stonestreet and Kevin Hart, as well as Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Jenny Slate, Bobby Moynihan, Hannibal Buress and Albert Brooks. Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and his longtime collaborator Janet Healy produce the film, which is directed by Chris Renaud (“Despicable Me,” “Despicable Me 2”), co-directed by Yarrow Cheney and written by Brian Lynch and Cinco Paul & Ken Dauri.
The film hits theaters July 8, 2016
