In keeping with “Guardians of the Galaxy” tradition, Rocket Raccoon gets a new nickname in “Avengers: Infinity War.” And oddly enough, he doesn’t seem to mind.
(MILD SPOILERS if you haven’t seen the movie yet).
Circumstances in the Marvel sequel have Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper) and teenage Groot off on a mission together.
Rocket, who was called a “trash panda” and “triangle-faced monkey” in “Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2,” is now dubbed a “rabbit” by Thor.
Unlike when a hostile Nebula kept referring to him as a “fox,” Thor is genuinely fond of Rocket and means no disrespect when he calls him a rabbit. And he immediately promotes Rocket to captain.
So no one can get his species straight: There are bigger things at stake!
For his part, Bucky Barnes has a new animal nickname as well: The Wakandans now call him “The White Wolf.” And when Rocket and Bucky finally meet…. well, Rocket makes him an offer he immediately refuses.
“Avengers: Infinity War” is now playing in theaters.
