(MINIMAL SPOILERS FOR “AVENGERS: ENDGAME.” SPOILERS FOR “ANT-MAN AND THE WASP”)

Although Rocket does his share in “Avengers: Endgame,” one unsung animal’s contribution is never acknowledged, or even realized — except by the audience.

At the end of “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) was left trapped in the quantum realm as the people in charge of getting him back out — Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer) — were dusted by Thanos’s snap.

Scott might never have come back, since no one besides his now-gone companions had any idea where he was or how to get him out.

Their time-travel van is hauled away to storage and — lo and behold — a lone rat walks across the controls. BAM! Scott hurtles back to earth, having no clue about how long he’s been gone.

And with Scott back, the quantum realm becomes key to the Avengers’ plan to bring back everyone who was killed by Thanos. With no rat, there’s no Scott and no life-changing time-travel.

While the Avengers will never know about the rat’s contribution, fans know a hero when they see one! Get that guy (girl?) an Avengers suit! Or maybe Ant-Man needs a new steed?
