‘Clifford the Big Red Dog’ Pulled From Theatrical Release

UPDATE: The film will now be simultaneously released theatrically and digitally on Paramount+ on November 10, 2021.

Paramount Pictures has pulled “Clifford the Big Red Dog” from its planned September 17 release over concerns of the highly contagious COVID Delta variant.

According to Deadline, the studio will seek a later theatrical date when kids can safely return to the multiplex.

It’s not clear if the family movie will still premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.

The live-action/CGI film stars Darby Camp as Emily Elizabeth, who receives a small red puppy from a magical animal rescuer (John Cleese). The dog soon grows to be 10-feet tall, sending Darby and her uncle (Jack Whitehall) on a series of adventures.
